Why is it called a black board if it's green? Why are chalks yellow and their product is white?

Sorry, I forgot. Why blackboards sometimes are green, or even blue today is that scientists have fouind a paint substance that can be written on more effectivly than the old fashoned slate. Today, small particles of steel and other mettles can be mixed with the paint to make the blackboard magnetic. Nevertheless, the educational tools are sitll called blackboards, for traditional ambiance more than anything.

Blackboards traditionaly were made of slate, a black material that can be written on with a chalky substance found in Europe. The chalk is found in deposits in hills, such as the Uppington horse (White Horse HIll) in Oxfordshire, England. Going back to the slates, you may have seen pictures of schoolchildren writing on tablet like things? It's the same idea, just larger.

I have NEVER seen yellow chalk that writes white. And blackboards ARE black. *pats on head* Its ok, evryone is special in their own way... JK JK I have brain issues that make me so weird... and have short term memory...why am i on the computer? XD ^^

Actually the black boards ive seen ARE black and the only yellow chalks ive seen writes in YELLOW.
